Kater CLI Share and administer admin access

kater admin access show

Shows who has access to a file or folder, and where that access comes from.

Use it when a person cannot see a workspace, to find the grant or the restricted folder that decides it. It changes nothing.

Examples

Terminal window
# See who can open the ad_reporting workspace
kater admin access show connections/snowflake_prod_connection/workspaces/ad_reporting
# See who can open the connection's shared layer
kater admin access show connections/snowflake_prod_connection/modeling

Arguments

ArgumentDescription
<path>A file or folder in Kater content, from the content root, such as connections/snowflake_prod_connection/workspaces/ad_reporting.

Options

It also takes the global options --json and --help.

What it shows

  • General access says whether the path is restricted, or inherits from its folder.
  • People with access lists the grants on the path itself, each with its level. A grant that can also run queries says can execute after its level. A grant that can only run queries says Execute only.
  • Inherited lists the grants from the folders above, each with the folder that gives it after via.
  • Access removed lists, for a restricted folder, the grants that the folder above would give it.

You need the Manager level on the path, or the access:administer permission.
