Kater CLI Set up init

kater init tables

Lists the synced tables with their columns, and the company description as it is saved.

An agent uses it to draft the company description with you. With --values, it also reads a few values of the tables that you name.

Examples

Terminal window
# List the synced tables and the saved company description
kater init tables
# Read the row counts, date ranges and frequent values of two tables
kater init tables --values --table DEMO_DB.ANALYTICS_AD_REPORTING.AD_REPORTING__CAMPAIGN_REPORT --table DEMO_DB.ANALYTICS_AD_REPORTING.AD_REPORTING__ACCOUNT_REPORT

Options

OptionDescription
--valuesAlso reads the tables that --table names in the warehouse. It counts the rows, finds the first and last date, and lists the most frequent labels. It queries the warehouse, so it uses warehouse credits.
--table <table>A table to read with --values, by its full name as the list gives it, such as DEMO_DB.ANALYTICS_AD_REPORTING.AD_REPORTING__CAMPAIGN_REPORT. Give 20 at most. You can give it more than one time.

It also takes --help.

What it reads

  • Without --values, it reads only the record of the schema sync. It costs nothing.
  • A column marked categorical holds labels, such as a channel. A column marked continuous holds amounts or times. A column with no mark was not profiled.
  • description holds the company description as it is saved.
  • groups and attributes list the groups and attributes of your organisation, as a hint of who uses the data.
  • With --values, each table gives its row count and the first and last value of each date column. It also gives 10 values at most for each label column.
  • A column that is not profiled, or that holds a different value in each row, gives no values.
  • Kater stores none of the values. When an agent runs the command, the values go to the agent’s model provider.

It needs the settings:manage permission.
