Kater CLI Find and understand files
kater files duplicate
Copies a file beside the original, with _copy at the end of its name, then _copy_2 and on.
When you cannot add files beside it, the copy goes into your own brainstorm folder. It also goes there when the original is in someone else’s folder that you reach only as an admin.
Examples
# Go to your brainstorm foldercd connections/snowflake_prod_connection/users/you@example.com/brainstorm# Copy a scratch file beside it, as sandbox/unnamed_scratch_1_copy.sqlkater files duplicate sandbox/unnamed_scratch_1.sql# Copy the shared brief-me skill, which goes into your brainstorm folder when you can only read itkater files duplicate ../../../ai_tools/skills/brief-me.mdArguments
Options
It also takes the global options --json, --kater-root, --scope and --help.
Scratch files
- A copied scratch file gets its new name in its frontmatter.
- A scratch file copied out of someone else’s folder names each workspace it reads by its full address. So the copy reads what the original read.
- When you cannot read one of those workspaces, Kater lists it, with the person to ask.
What is not copied
Kater does not copy folders. It also does not copy queries, charts, models and the other files that Kater reads by their names. It copies only text files.
