Kater CLI Make and compare sync

kater sync status

Shows when each sync of a connection last succeeded on this computer: the DB datasets and the Kater datasets.

It counts only a sync that saved its changes or found none to save. A dry run or a check does not count.

Examples

Terminal window
# Go to a connection's folder in your local copy of Kater content
cd connections/snowflake_prod_connection
# See when the DB datasets and the Kater datasets last synced
kater sync status --scope modeling
# Get the times as JSON
kater sync status --scope modeling --json

Options

OptionDescription
--request-file <file>A JSON file that holds the whole request, as kater invoke sync.status takes it. Give - to read it from standard input. The command then ignores --scope.

It also takes the global options --json, --kater-root, --scope and --help.

What it shows

  • Each step. It shows each time in your own time zone, or never synced here when that sync never succeeded on this computer.
  • As JSON. db_datasets and kater_dataset each hold a state and a time, at, in UTC. state is synced, never_synced when that sync never succeeded here, or unreadable when its record cannot be read. at is null unless the state is synced.
  • This computer only. Syncs that other people ran, or that ran in Kater, do not count.
