Kater CLI Find and understand files
kater files
Lists, finds and organizes the files in your Kater content, as the Files page does.
It shows only what you can read. You can also make folders, and copy, move and delete the plain files that you can change.
Commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
kater files list | List one folder’s files and folders. |
kater files index | List every file and folder you can read. |
kater files search | Find the lines in your files that hold some text. |
kater files create-folder | Make an empty folder. |
kater files move | Rename or move a file or folder. |
kater files duplicate | Copy a file beside it, or into your brainstorm folder. |
kater files add-to | Add a query or chart to a workspace, dashboard or app. |
kater files remove-from | Take a chart or query off a dashboard or app. |
Paths
Give each path from the folder you are in, or from --kater-root when you give it. Kater finds the content root, the folder that holds connections/, by walking up from that path.
Files that keep their place
Queries, charts, models, workspaces and apps keep their names and places, because other files find them by name. So do the files that Kater writes, test files and Kater’s own folders. kater files index marks each of them.
