Kater CLI Find and understand files

kater files remove-from

Takes a chart off its own workspace's dashboard, or a query or a chart off one of your apps.

It works as clearing it in Add to does. Nothing is deleted: the chart and the query stay.

Give --dashboard or --app, and only one of them.

Examples

Terminal window
# Go to the snowflake_prod_connection connection
cd connections/snowflake_prod_connection
# Take the spend_mix chart off the ad_reporting dashboard
kater files remove-from workspaces/ad_reporting/charts/spend_mix.sql --dashboard workspaces/ad_reporting
# Take the spend_mix chart off an app of yours
kater files remove-from workspaces/ad_reporting/charts/spend_mix.sql --app users/you@example.com/apps/unnamed_app_1

Arguments

ArgumentDescription
<path>The file of a query or a chart in a workspace. Give its path from the folder you are in, or from --kater-root.

Options

OptionDescription
--line <n>The line of the query, in a file that declares several. Lines count from 1. Leave it out for the first query.
--dashboard <path>Takes a chart off its own workspace’s dashboard, by the workspace’s folder.
--app <path>Takes it off one of your apps, by the app’s folder. Every tag that Add to put there for it comes off the app’s pages.

It also takes the global options --json, --kater-root, --scope and --help.

Putting it back

The answer holds each changed file as it was before. kater source write puts a file back.

Through an agent

Outside a brainstorm folder, the kater tool of the Kater MCP refuses this change. An agent uses kater_apply after the person agrees.
