Kater SQL Functions Conditions

KATER__IS_LESS_THAN

True where the field is less than the value.

Family: Conditions

Syntax

KATER__IS_LESS_THAN(field, value)

Arguments

ArgumentDescription
fieldThe value to test: a field, or a measure’s value, such as EVAL(orders.sum__amount).
valueThe value to compare with. A value, or a parameter a reader supplies.

Returns

TRUE or FALSE. It is NULL where the field is empty, so a filter leaves that row out.

Usage notes

  • On a date, the menus write KATER__IS_BEFORE, which compiles to the same SQL.

Example

This Sandbox query reads the sample shop’s orders. The table shows the rows that Kater gave.

SELECT
orders.quantity AS "Quantity",
EVAL(orders.count_distinct__order_id) AS "Orders"
FROM kater_dataset.orders AS orders
WHERE
KATER__IS_LESS_THAN(orders.quantity, 3)
GROUP BY
orders.quantity
ORDER BY
1
QuantityOrders
1565
2601

Compiles to

The call compiles to the same SQL on DuckDB and on Snowflake.

orders.quantity < 3
