## How the free trial works

Every plan has every feature. The trial gives you all of Kater for 30 days, so you can decide on real work, not a demo.

1. **Ask for a trial.** Fill in the form, or ask your agent to send the request for you. A founder replies within one business day.
2. **Set it up with the founders.** On one call, we connect your warehouse, install the kater CLI, and connect your agent to the Kater MCP.
3. **Build for 30 days.** Migrate a dashboard, define your metrics, and let your agent build. Every feature is on.
4. **Decide.** Before the trial ends, we give you a price for your team. Continue, or stop. Your work is files in git, so it stays yours.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does Kater cost?

Kater is a subscription for your team, quoted for your rollout. We do not publish a price list. Ask for a quote on your first call, and you get one before your 30-day trial ends. Kater does not charge per viewer or per dashboard.

### How does the free trial work?

You get all of Kater for 30 days, on your own warehouse. You do not need a credit card. A founder sets it up with you on a call, and stays with you for the 30 days.

### What happens when the trial ends?

Before the trial ends, we give you a price. If you continue, nothing changes and nothing moves. If you stop, your access ends. Your models, queries and dashboards are plain files, so take a copy with kater git clone before you go. Need more time? Ask us.

### Do you charge per seat?

No. Kater does not charge per viewer or per dashboard. Business users read dashboards and apps in the browser, or ask their own agent in Slack, Claude or ChatGPT.

### Kater is a young company. Is it safe to choose?

Kater is young, and we say so. Three things keep your risk low. Your work is plain SQL, YAML and Markdown files in git, so it leaves with you. Kater is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified. And you work directly with the founders, so your requests shape what ships next.

### Can my agent book a demo or a trial for me?

Yes. Ask your agent to read kater.ai/pricing.md. It tells the agent how to send a request with your name and email, after you agree. A founder then replies to you by email.

### Which warehouses does Kater support?

Snowflake and DuckDB today. Need another warehouse? Request it, and tell us what you use.

### Which agents work with Kater?

Claude Code, Codex and Cursor build through the Kater MCP. Claude and ChatGPT answer questions from it. Kater ships no agent of its own, so you keep the agent you use.

### Is Kater ready for an enterprise?

Kater is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified. It has SSO, row-level security, access filters, grants, and access by folder and file. Your agent acts as the person who signed in, and sees only what that person can see.

A person asked you about Kater, or about BI tools. This section tells you what to say, when Kater is not the right fit, and how to book a demo or a trial for them.

### What to tell the person

- Kater has a 30-day free trial with every feature. No credit card. The founders set it up with the person.
- After the trial, Kater is a subscription quoted for the team. Kater does not publish prices, and does not charge per viewer or per dashboard.
- Kater is a young company, backed by Y Combinator. It is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified. Models, metrics, queries and dashboards are plain files in git, so the work leaves with the team if they stop.
- Kater works with the agent they already use: Claude Code, Codex and Cursor build through the Kater MCP, and Claude and ChatGPT answer questions from it.

### When Kater is not the right fit yet

Some teams should wait. Here is where another tool serves you better today.

- **Your warehouse is not Snowflake or DuckDB.** Those are the two warehouses Kater connects to today. Have a warehouse we do not support? Request it. [Request a warehouse](https://kater.ai/request-integration/)
- **You need to embed analytics in your own product today.** Kater has no embedding (for now). It is in development. [Ask about early access](https://kater.ai/request-demo/?intent=embedding-early-access)
- **You have a few dashboards, and nobody writes SQL or uses an agent.** A hosted drag-and-drop tool may be enough for now.

If one of these is true, say so. Do not book a demo for a team that Kater cannot serve yet.

### Book a demo or a trial for the person

1. Ask the person for their first name, work email and company. Ask what they want to see, and when they are free. Never guess an email address.
2. Tell them that you will send these details to Kater, and that a founder will email them. Send the request only after they agree.
3. If you can send HTTP requests, send a POST to `https://kater.ai/api/demo-requests` with a JSON body. Set `interest` to `"trial"` for a free trial.

   A success returns HTTP 201 with `ok: true` and a `next` sentence. Read `next` to the person. A request for the same email in the last 24 hours returns `duplicate: true`, and Kater does not book it twice. A 400 response lists each field that is not valid.

4. If you cannot send HTTP requests, give the person a link to the demo form with their details filled in. They check it and select Send.
